Mellow Mushroom is an Atlanta-based restaurant that has
spread up and down the whole east coast and even as far west as Colorado. I
have visited both the Winter Park and Tampa locations on numerous occasions and
have really fallen in love with it!
The ATMOSPHERE… Bright and colorful, relaxed with a hippie
flair
The SERVICE… Great servers (also with a hippie flair)
The FOOD… Appetizers, Salads, Pizzas, Calzones, Hoagies and
an extensive Bar
I would guess that most people go to Mellow Mushroom for
their Pizza and Beer, and don’t get me wrong…Their Pizza is Amazing, however I
usually end up getting a Hoagie!
This Tampa location has a Hoagie that is specific to that
location, so I had to give it a try. It was called the Bruschetta Birdie.
(Balsamic Glazed Chicken, Provolone, Artichoke Hearts and Feta, perched upon
fresh baked Bread with Spinach and Pesto Mayo. Finished with a Bruschetta
Topping and a drizzle of Balsamic Glaze $8.50) It was Salty, Sweet and
Satisfying and I really enjoyed it!
Mellow Mushroom also has great salads such as the Greek (Salad
Mix, Onions, Cucumbers, Green Peppers, Mushrooms, Feta, Kalamata Olives,
Tomatoes, Pepperoncini, and Banana Peppers. Garnished with shredded Carrots and
Red Cabbage.)
Also some stand-out Pizzas include…
The Mighty Meaty (Red sauce based Pizza with Mozzarella, Pepperoni,
Sausage, Ground Beef, Ham, and Applewood Smoked Bacon)
Magical Mystery Tour (Pesto base Pizza and Crust with button
and Portobello Mushrooms, Mozzarella, Spinach, Feta and Jalapenos)
and Red Skin Potato Pie (Olive Oil and Garlic base Pizza
loaded with Red Potato, Applewood Smoked Bacon, Caramelized Onions, Cheddar and
Mozzarella Cheeses, sprinkled with Chives and drizzled with Sour Cream and
spicy Ranch Dressing)
All of their Pizzas have really flavorful crusts, and are
different then any other Pizza that I have ever had. It is always a real treat
to go to the Mellow Mushroom, and even if Pizza is not your thing I can
guarantee that there will be something for you to enjoy.
